Religion in Healthcare - Student Symposium

PRESENTATIONS | BIOS | WEBCAST

The Healthcare Innovation Program (HIP) and Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Open School Emory Chapter hosted the 5th annual Student Symposium on Tuesday, March 19, 2019.

The symposium addressed how our healthcare system engages with religion, both positively and negatively. While much of the healthcare system has its roots in religious practice, the place of religion in healthcare has become increasingly unclear. At the same time, researchers (including many here at Emory) have highlighted the importance of religion as a social determinant of health. Addressing the linkages between religion and our modern healthcare system, then, offers new opportunities to improve healthcare.
