Highlights and achievements
My most recent achievement would have to be my acceptance into the MSPH program at Emory. The program was my top choice and when I was accepted, I was overcome with excitement
I'm currently working on...
I am currently working as an intern for Pregnancy Risk Assessment and Monitoring Survey (PRAMS), where we are field testing new questions for the recently pregnant woman's knowledge and awareness of Zika Virus. I am also working on my thesis for the MSPH program. My interest is in how geographic differences affect the effectiveness of WIC in improving birth weights.
I hope to innovate healthcare by
I want to expand the ways we understand how policies affect the people we are trying to help, and then make those policies more effective. It is simply not enough to throw money at a problem, but we also need to know how to address it so that our efforts have the greatest impact.
My greatest mentor has been...
My greatest mentor has been my father, Dr. Mitch Rodriguez. He has always been a voice of reason and guidance in every part of my life
When I have free time, I like...
When I have free time, I like to play with my dog, or go on hikes with him. When we can, we go on backpacking trips in the mountains.
The craziest thing I've done is...
The craziest thing I've done is join my undergraduate rugby team. I was and still am not a very large man, and the men that play rugby are very large. The very first practice I was beat into the ground by every single person on the pitch in all the drill we were doing. I left that practice bruised and beat up, and it was then that I made one of my craziest decisions. I was going to play rugby, and it was one of the best decisions that I ever made.
